“There is a longstanding historical practice of stigmatizing and mistreating women with mental health problems. We are posed, we are labeled, and we are titled with no thought given to our actual being. In Hugh Diamond’s original portrait (see above), are we really represented by the woman? Or do we find our kinship with the bird? This is something we will play with in costuming and makeup.”
